How do you assess therapist–patient fit?

We offer a free 15-minute introductory phone or video call prior to booking an initial appointment.

This allows us to:

  • Clarify the client’s goals and presenting concerns
  • Assess whether our service is appropriate
  • Discuss practical considerations such as availability and funding
  • Ensure the client feels comfortable moving forward

We recognise that therapeutic fit is an important part of engagement and positive outcomes.

How soon can patients be seen?

We aim to complete introductory calls within 1–2 business days of referral or enquiry.

Current wait times are generally within 2 weeks, and we provide referrers with updates regarding current availability where appropriate.

Communication from the psychologist after making a referral:

We aim to maintain timely and collaborative communication with referring practitioners.

Our standard communication process includes:

  • Confirmation after the introductory call has been completed
  • Initial letter within 1–2 days of the first appointment
  • Progress update around session 6 where appropriate
  • Closure/discharge letter at the completion of treatment
  • Additional communication if there are significant changes in presentation, risk, or treatment direction

Communication is typically provided via secure fax or secure messaging systems.
